This error is a common general error.

The main reasons that this error will occur is:

  • Address information (City, State, Zip) can not be separated properly. Check your forms for any place where this data is not is the correct location or not in normal 'city, ST Zip' format (Comma on this is optional).
  • TIN number printing to far up and are getting read into the Payer's address block.
  • Phone number not 10 digits or not present. Phone number can be in almost any format, however, for best operation, we recommend using a basic format of '000-000-0000'. Phone extensions and extraneous information where the phone number is can lead to many errors.

Another error this could occur from is a blank or image based pdf. Depending on the 'PDF' file and how your accounting software exports the data to the 'PDF' file, it is possible that no data is loaded in.

This issue can happen for multiple reasons:

  1. The accounting software is exporting the 'PDF' file as a picture and not as text.
    • To check if this is your issue, open the '.pdf' file you uploaded, and try to highlight the text on the page. If you can highlight the text, this is probably not your problem. If you can't highlight any text, this is probably the problem and you may need to try the below solution.
    • If this occurs, your only option is to try exporting as a '.xps' type (Microsoft's version of PDF) using the 'Microsoft XPS Document Writer' that should be present on all windows based computers. After printing to a '.xps', open this file and then print it to a PDF, using 'Microsoft Print to PDF' or any other pdf printer. This is done as it is possible that the format '.xps' file will be generated with text and not images, which then can be converted to a 'PDF' file. If this option does not work, you may need to look into your accounting software and try to find an export to excel.
  2. The '.pdf' that is uploaded is blank or contains no text where an expected form would be.
    • If this occurs, check your '.pdf' file for data. If your file contains data, make sure that it falls into the described locations in the specific form type format.
