Program icon not on the desktop

Sometimes when installing the program, the installer can remove your programs icon from the desktop without replacing it with a new icon.

To fix this issue:

  • Windows 10
    1. Shink or close all open windows/apps.
    2. Click on the 'Start Menu' (the windows button in the bottom left corner of your screen/taskbar).
    3. Navigate through the list of programs till you find the folder for the program (1099 Express, 1095 Express, 1042-S Express, or W-2 Express). This folder should be named '<Program name> <Program Year> Enterprise' (Ex. '1099 Express 2021 Enterprise').
    4. Click on the folder and you should see a few items show up below/in that folder.
    5. Click and drag (left mouse click and continue holding the left mouse button) move your mouse to any open area on your desktop.
    6. Continue holding down the button until you see the program name and a white box that says 'Link'.
    7. Release the left mouse button and the program Icon should appear on your desktop. The icon can now be move to any location on your desktop.
  • Windows 11
    1. Shink or close all open windows/apps.
    2. Click on the 'Start Menu' (the windows button on your taskbar (depending on your settings, this button could be on the left, center or right of your taskbar)).
    3. At the top of the 'Start Menu', you should see directly under the search bar at the top, a button on the right side of the 'Start Menu' that says 'All apps'. Click on the 'All apps' button.
    4. Navigate through the list of programs till you find the folder for the program (1099 Express, 1095 Express, 1042-S Express, or W-2 Express). This folder should be named '<Program name> <Program Year> Enterprise' (Ex. '1099 Express 2021 Enterprise').
    5. Click on the folder and you should see a few items show up below/in that folder.
    6. Click and drag (left mouse click and continue holding the left mouse button) move your mouse to any open area on your desktop.
    7. Continue holding down the button until you see the program name and a white box that says 'Link'.
    8. Release the left mouse button and the program Icon should appear on your desktop. The icon can now be move to any location on your desktop.
